All the equipment for Azerbaijani state oil company SOCAR’s carbamide plant, which is being built in the city of Sumqayit, has been delivered to the territory of the facility, a source in SOCAR, familiar with the project’s progress, told Trend.
“All the equipment has been delivered to the construction area by the contractors, installation of equipment, units and building of other facilities has already begun,” said the source. “This work will be finished until late 2017, and then commissioning activities will start.”
The first products of SOCAR’s carbamide plant are expected to be received in the first quarter of 2018. South Korea’s Samsung Engineering is the general contractor of the plant’s construction. Stamicarbon of the Netherlands and Haldor Topsoe of Denmark are licensors, while Finland’s Neste Jacobs Oy is project management consultant.
The plant is expected to produce 2,000 tons of carbamide and 1,200 tons of ammonia per day.
