Azerbaijan received 1.98 billion cubic meters of associated gas from BP-operated Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block since early 2016, vice president of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR for oil and gas transportation and gas facilities, Rahman Gurbanov told Natural Gas World.

He noted that this figure is 700 million cubic meters less than in the same period in 2015 due to more gas re-injection, which boosted the block’s oil output by 190,000 tons to 23.76 million tons year-on-year.

The associated gas is transferred to SOCAR free of charge as part of the ACG development. In 2015, BP transferred 3.2 billion cubic meters of associated gas to SOCAR.

BP is the operator in development of the ACG block with 35.78 percent share.

Other shareholders in the project are Chevron (11.27 percent), Inpex (10.96 percent), AzACG (11.65 percent), Statoil (8.56 percent), Exxon (8 percent), TPAO (6.75 percent), Itocu (4.3 percent) and ONGC (2.72 percent).

Azerbaijan produced 31.3 million tons of Azeri Light oil from ACG in 2015, as compared to 31.5 million tons in 2014.
