Participants of SGC Advisory Council meeting announced

The preparation for the 3rd ministerial meeting as part of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council’s meeting has already been completed, said Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry in a message Feb. 22.

The message says that the meeting will be attended by the US Department of State Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy Diplomacy Robin Dunnigan, British Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy for Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson, European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union Maros Sefcovic. The EU delegation will also include representatives of the European Commission Bernd Biervert, Andras Rozmer, Kurt Glaser and Head of the EU Delegation to Azerbaijan Malena Mard.

The countries participating in the SGC project will be represented by Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister of Georgia Kakha Kaladze, Turkey’s Energy and Natural Resources Minister Berat Albayrak, Greece’s Environment and Energy Minister Georgios Stathakis, Albania’s Deputy Minister of Energy and Industry Ilir Bejtja, Bulgaria’s Energy Minister Nikolay Pavlov, Italy’s Economic Development Minister Carlo Calenda, Montenegro’s Economy Minister Dragica Sekulic, Croatia’s Environment and Energy Minister Slaven Dobrovic.

Moreover, the meeting will be attended by representatives of international financial institutions.

SGC Advisory Council held its first meeting on Feb. 12, 2015 and second meeting on Feb. 29, 2016.

The Southern Gas Corridor envisages transportation of 10 billion cubic meters of Azerbaijani gas from the Caspian region to Europe via Georgia and Turkey.

The gas will be exported through expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline and the construction of the Trans Anatolian Natural Gas Pipeline and the Trans Adriatic Pipeline.
