SOCAR to send 330,000 tons of oil via Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR will send about 330,000 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in the second quarter of 2017, a source in SOCAR told Trend Mar. 31.

According to the source, this volume was approved by the Russian company Transneft.

SOCAR transships its oil via Russia’s Novorossiysk port. The oil is delivered there via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline.

SOCAR pumped 240,000 tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in the first quarter of 2017.

The Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline is 1,147 kilometers long. The length of its Azerbaijani section is 231 kilometers, and Russian section is 916 kilometers long.

The pipeline’s maximum pumping capacity is 105,000 barrels per day.

SOCAR plans to transport 1.5 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in 2017.

SOCAR transported 1.22 million tons of oil via the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline in 2016, as compared to 1.27 million tons in 2015.
