Uzbekistan’s Uzbekneftegaz National Holding Company and Gas Project Development Central Asia AG, a subsidiary of Gazprom International, will sign an agreement until May to create a joint venture for construction of a new oil refinery in Jizzakh, Uzbekistan, an Uzbekneftegaz official told Trend.
Uzbekneftegaz’s share in the joint venture will be 60 percent, while Gas Project Development Central Asia AG will hold a share of 40 percent.
In late April, Uzbekistan started the construction of a new refinery in Zafarobod District of the Jizzakh Region.
The refinery is designed to process 5 million tons of oil per year, produce 3.7 million tons of motor fuel, over 700,000 tons of aviation fuel and 300,000 tons of associated oil products.
The project costs $2.2 billion. The refinery’s construction is scheduled to end in 2022.
