Kazakh refinery exports benzol to Russia

In 2017, Atyrau Oil Refinery (AOR) produced 8,951 tons of benzol, which exceeded the planned amount by 4 percent. The refinery produced and exported 14,380 tons of oil products since the launch of the production.

The entire product is exported to Russia, Kazakh media reported.

Atyrau Oil Refinery was the first in Kazakhstan to supply benzol for export.

Commodity oil product of the refinery meets the requirements of the ASTM D 4734-08 international standard, having the "Purified benzol-545" certificate.

Benzol is one of the most common petrochemical products. For instance, in plastics its content is about 30 percent, in rubbers - 66 percent, in synthetic fibers - up to 80 percent.

Benzol is widely used in industry, it is the raw material for the production of medicines, various plastics, synthetic rubber, dyes.

Benzol at the Atyrau refinery is produced at the catalytic CCR reformer, which is part of the Complex for the production of aromatic hydrocarbons.
