The United Arab Emirates and Turkmenistan have discussed possible cooperation in renewable energy sector.

The ways of promoting investment and cooperation in multiple areas, particularly renewable energy and infrastructure, were the crux of a meeting held between Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation with Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Berdyniyaz Myatiyev in Abu-Dhabi, WAM news agency reported.

The two sides also discussed an array of regional and international issues of common interest and affirmed their two countries' keenness to advance cooperation to the higher good of both peoples.

The UAE ranks fifth in Turkmenistan's top ten foreign trade partners. Dragon Oil, which develops oil and gas resources in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea, is one of the most important investors in the fuel and energy sector in Turkmenistan. Another company - "Petrofac" participates in the implementation of a service project at the world's second largest gas field Galkynysh.

The use of renewable energy sources can open wide opportunities in the Turkmen - Emirate cooperation.

Both countries focus attention on the development of international cooperation in the field of solar energy.
