Azerbaijan reveals volume of gas output from Shah Deniz field

In 2017, Azerbaijan produced 10.2 billion cubic meters of gas from the Shah Deniz field in the Caspian Sea, which is 506.7 million cubic meters less than in 2016, reads the annual report of the Energy Ministry.

During the year, Azerbaijan produced 28.6 billion cubic meters of natural gas, 6.1 billion cubic meters of which accounted for the share of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, 12.3 billion cubic meters accounted for the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) block of oil and gas fields, and 10.2 billion cubic meters accounted for the Shah Deniz field.

Shah Deniz field’s reserves are estimated at 1.2 trillion cubic meters of gas.

As part of the Shah Deniz Stage 2 project, the annual gas production will increase from 9 billion cubic meters to 16 billion cubic meters.
