Baku, Azerbaijan, Feb.7

By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR hopes for success in talks with Pakistan on liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply, a source in Azerbaijan’s oil and gas market told Trend.

The source pointed out that talks are underway not only on LNG, but also other petroleum products supply.

“SOCAR hopes for success in some of those issues,” noted the source.

The source further said that in the case of successful talks, LNG will be supplied not from Azerbaijan, since the country doesn’t produce this type of fuel.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation on Feb.28, 2017 in the sphere of energy, which also includes LNG and petroleum products supply.

Currently, Pakistan imports around 4.5 million tons of LNG per year.
