Turkmen fuel and energy complex summarizes results of 1Q2018

A meeting dedicated to the work results of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan in the first quarter of 2018, was held in Ashgabat with participation of Deputy Prime Minister Myratgeldy Meredov, Nebit-Gaz, online newspaper of the country’s Oil and Gas Complex, reported April 16.

Reports on the implementation of the "Program of development of the oil and gas industry of Turkmenistan for the period up to 2030" were read out at the meeting.

Particularly, the meeting participants were informed about technical and economic indicators achieved in the field of oil and gas condensate production, processing of hydrocarbons, production of gasoline, diesel fuel, polypropylene, lubricating oils and other petroleum products, as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG) and associated gas, gas export and development of investments.

At the meeting, participants were also informed about the ongoing work on the construction of a transnational pipeline Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI).

Meredov criticized the officials after hearing out the reports. Further, he gave a number of specific instructions regarding the increase of oil production and refining volumes in the country.

He also voiced importance of the further constructive development of natural gas processing for establishment of production of ammonia, urea, carbon black and the systematic increase in production of LNG, which is in great demand worldwide.

At the meeting, the progress of major investment projects, such as construction of a gas chemical complex for the production of polyethylene and polypropylene in the Balkan region and a plant for production of high-quality gasoline from natural gas in the Ovadan Depe, was also noted.

At the end of the meeting, Meredov, noting the essential importance of the oil and gas complex in the stable development of the country's economy, noted that the timely execution of all orders and the achievement of the goals set by the President of Turkmenistan for the complex is a priority for each employee of the industry.

Heads and specialists of the state concern "Turkmengas", "Turkmennebit", state corporation "Turkmengeology", and oil refineries attended the meeting.

Turkmenistan occupies one of the key positions in the region for natural gas supply. The country exports gas to China and Iran, Russia, the traditional buyer, completely ceased purchase of the Turkmen gas in 2016.
