Turkmenstan starts exploration of "Tajibay" hydrocarbon deposits

Turmenistan's state "Turkmengeology" corporation specialists are actively working on the recently opened "Tajibay" hydrocarbon area, in Lebap province (region) of Turkmenistan, the corporation's report said.

The field is located near the well-known gas-bearing "Malay" area .

"By completion of preliminary exploration work at the new field, the expedition workers began drilling the first exploration well. So far, more than 1,400 meters of depth have been drilled," the report said.

At the moment, Turkmenistan develops some 30 gas and gas condensate fields, including "Dovletabat", "Shatlyk" as well as deposits of "Malay", "Kerpichli", "Gazlidepe", "Bagaja", "Elguja" and others.

Meanwhile, new fields have been discovered in Lebap velayat – "Agarguyi" and "Northern Gazlidepe", in Akhal velayat, "South Gatlyiyak", "Geyazli", in Mary velayat – "Garakel".

Furthermore, the increase of commercial reserves has been achieved in the fields of "Northern Naip", "Bagaja", "Certak", "Garajaovlak".

The search and exploration work on Turkmenistan's biggest gas field "Galkynysh" continue. The field's deposits, combined with those of "Yashlar" and "Garkel", according to an independent audit, make up 27.4 trillion cubic meters of gas.

Turkmenistan is the biggest supplier of natural gas in Central Asia.
