Azerbaijan sees fall in power generation

Azerbaijan’s power plants generated 9.57 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-May 2018 that is by 0.2 percent less than in the same period of 2017, says a report of the State Statistics Committee.
The report says that 9.21 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated in January-May 2018 accounted for commercial electricity, which is 0.2 percent more than in January-May 2017.
Thermal power plants generated 8.45 billion kilowatt hours of total commercial electricity in January-May 2018 that is 1.6 percent more than in January-May 2017.
Azerbaijan’s hydro-power plants generated 743.6 million kilowatt hours of commercial electricity in January-May 2018 that is 13.4 percent less than in January-May 2017.
Wind farms produced 6.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity, while solar power plants generated 15.1 million kilowatt hours of electricity in the reporting period.
