Turkmenistan starts to develop iron ore deposit
Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, July 7
By Huseyn Hasanov - Trend:
The Ministry of Industry of Turkmenistan together with Turkmengeology State Corporation and the National Academy of Sciences has studied the possibility of using natural resources of the Tuarkyr mining area in the west of the country, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper reported.
"The use of local raw materials - iron ore - in production of high-strength brands of cement will allow to save about $10 million annually," the message says.
The laboratory tests of the composition of the fossil iron ore of the Gyzylgaya area have been conducted, which confirmed the high quality of raw materials.
Turkmencement Production Association has refused to purchase this component abroad this year. The extraction of iron ore has been arranged at Chagyl field since the beginning of the year, and all enterprises of the industry are provided with the necessary raw materials without restrictions.
The reserves of valuable raw materials of the known deposit will be confirmed and transferred to the Ministry of Industry of Turkmenistan by the end of the year. The deposit discovered by geologists has industrial scale.
If a metallurgical plant with a capacity of one million tons of iron per year is built on the Gyzylgaya area, the reserves of easily enriched ore of the deposit will last for a century, the message says.
The priority direction of the construction materials industry is the production of cement in Turkmenistan. The country's factories produce portland cement, which is used in the construction of multi-storey buildings and other facilities in the seismic zone.
In addition, the production of oil-well packing cement for the oil and gas industry, as well as sulphate resistant cement used in the laying of foundations, construction of bridge piers and other hydro-technical structures has been arranged.
