Capital expenditures of BTC pipeline increase slightly

In the first half of 2018, approximately $61 million (against about $64 million for the same period last year) were spent in BTC pipeline operating expenditures and about $13 million (against $10 million for the same period last year) were spent in capital expenditures, BP Azerbaijan said in its report on activity in the first half of the year.

In the first half of 2018, BTC exported about 17 million tons (more than 125 million barrels) of crude oil.

Since the BTC pipeline became operational in June 2006 until the end of the first half of 2018, it has carried a total of more than 399 million tons (about 2.99 billion barrels) of crude oil loaded on 3,916 tankers and sent to world markets.

Total length of BТC is 1,768 kilometers, including a 443-kilometer section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer section in Turkey. Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil May 18, 2005.

The BTC Co., which was established August 1, 2002 for implementation of the BTC pipeline project, has the following shareholders: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), TPAO (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), ITOCHU (3.4 percent), INPEX (2.5 percent), ExxonMobil (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).

The pipeline’s pumping capacity is 1.2 million barrels per day.
