Italy's ENI S.p.A. and the American General Electric will build a wind farm with a capacity of 48 megawatts in the Kargaly District of Aktobe Region in Kazakhstan, the regional administration said in a statement posted on its website.
The wind farm will be built with the use of the technologies presented at the International Exhibition EXPO 2017 in Astana.
A corresponding memorandum was signed on September 5 this year by Governor of the Aktobe Region Berdybek Saparbayev and Director of ArmWind (ENI – 90 percent, General Electric – 10 percent) Abramo Ferdinando in the course of a business meeting.
The amount of investment is about 100 million euros. Construction of the facility is scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of this year, and it will be put into operation at the end of 2019. Some 300 jobs will be created in the period of construction.
Also a memorandum for construction of wind turbines in Martuk District was signed with Zhelenergo LLP at the business meeting. The technologies of this project were also presented at the EXPO 2017.
In total, six innovative technologies of EXPO 2017 have already been introduced in Aktobe. Another 15 technologies of EXPO 2017 are in the implementation phase.
