Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 22
Trend:
About 595 million kilowatt-hours of Tajik electricity was exported to neighboring countries in August 2018, which is 22 million kilowatt-hours less than in July 2018, Tajik media reported.
The decrease in the volume of electricity supplies is caused by a 35-million-kilowatt-hours decrease in exports to Uzbekistan.
In August 2018, Uzbekistan received 382 million kilowatt-hours of Tajik electricity, the Monitoring and Early Notification in Tajikistan report said. A month earlier, the volume of supplies to this country amounted to 417 million kilowatt-hours
In August, electricity was also exported to Kyrgyzstan (12.4 million kilowatt-hours), which was not recorded in July.
Afghanistan, in the last month, as in the previous months, received slightly more than 200 million kilowatt-hours of Tajik electricity.
It is expected that until the end of 2018, Tajikistan will export to neighboring countries at least 3 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity.
According to the agreements reached by the electricity companies, Uzbekistan acquires Tajik electricity at 2 cents per kilowatt, whereas Afghanistan pays 4.1 cents for each kilowatt.
