Turkmen president, Oxbow Group CEO mull intensifying co-op in fuel, energy sector

Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is on a working visit in New York, met William Koch, CEO at the US-based company Oxbow Group, the Turkmenistan State News Agency reported Oct. 1.

Koch voiced a number of proposals for intensifying cooperation and discussed the prospects for partnership in the fuel and energy sector, the field of training qualified specialists. The Oxbow Group, one of the leaders in the field of processing natural resources, is ready to provide Turkmenistan with a wide range of services, he said.

Koch stressed the company’s interest in continuing purchases of petroleum coke, carbamide and sulfur produced in Turkmenistan.

At the meeting, Berdimuhamedov stressed that Turkmenistan, taking the course to modernize the economy, is expanding constructive dialogue with all interested foreign partners, paying particular attention to the introduction of innovative technologies.

Turkmenistan, according to British Petroleum's (BP) report, is the fourth largest country in terms of natural gas reserves and at this stage exports it to China and Iran.
