The Managing Director of Petroleum Engineering and Development Company (PEDEC) , Touraj Dehghani has announced the launch of mobile oil treatment unit in the South Azadegan oil field during the 40th anniversary of the Islamic revolution (February 11,2019).
“In less than two months, 35 oil wells would join the production line," Trend reports as Shana cited Dehghani.
"The construction of mobile oil treatment unit is being done for the first time in Iran, which is one of the major progresses at the South Azadegan oilfield development project. It is expected to be installed by a foreign company and in less than two months, 35 oil wells would enter the production line.” he added.
He noted the operation of mobile oil treatment unit and production of new oil wells would increase South Azadegan production capacities to 50,000 bpd while he expressed hope to rise the production capacity to 150,000 bpd by the end of Persian year (March 20, 2019).
"Last year the company had succeeded to operate 50 oil wells and increase the production capacity from 30,000 bpd to 100,000 bpd."
South Azadegan oilfield development project is one of the biggest development projects in the country that is funded by the domestic budget resources, and had remarkable progress in oil well drilling operation.
Dehghani indicated the government plan to increase the production would be implemented by the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) in South Azadegan oil field in stages.
"Important steps have been taken to operate mobile oil treatment units, support domestic goods and use of domestic producers, while the equipment production contracts in overseas were canceled, so the equipment would be built by domestic producers, the company seeks to support the domestic capacities.", he said.
The South Azadegan oil field is located 80 km in west of Ahvaz, near the Iraqi border. It has said to hold about 33.2 billion barrels oil-in-place reserves and its recoverable resources estimated at about 5.2 billion barrels. It is one of the NIOC Recent Discoveries and the biggest oil field found in Iran in the last 30 years.
