Completion of all stages of modernization and reconstruction of the Azerikimya Production Union, which is a part of Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR, is planned in the first half of 2020, SOCAR told Trend.
The work on modernization and reconstruction of the Azerikimya Production Union will continue next year as well, the company added.
In particular, in 2019, it is planned to complete construction work regarding the main facilities and start preparing new facilities for commissioning, the company said.
“Also, considering the planned launch of a new unit for the production of polyethylene, it is planned to begin supplying ethylene to the SOCAR Polymer industrial complex next year,” SOCAR said.
In addition, in 2020, it is planned to complete the project to increase the capacity of the steam generating complex. This project is being implemented by SOCAR jointly with the German company Uniper.
As part of the development program of the Azerikimya Production Union, a project was launched in 2016 to modernize and reconstruct the EP-300 unit.
The main goals of the project include creation of conditions for more efficient and cost-effective processing of renewed gas raw materials (its supplies are expected from the Heydar Aliyev Baku Oil Refinery, following the reconstruction project), ensuring uninterrupted supply of ethylene, propylene, purified hydrogen, as well as other products of the required quality and in the required volumes to SOCAR Polymer plants, increasing the reliability and efficiency of the production process of the EP-300 unit, as well as extending the life cycle of the EP-300 unit for the next 20 years.
“TechnipFMC, which has extensive international experience in the implementation of such projects, is involved as the main contractor on the modernization and reconstruction project of the EP-300 unit,” the company said.
The company stressed that along with the modernization and reconstruction project of the EP-300 unit, it is also planned to carry out a major overhaul of the Polymer-120 and isopropyl alcohol production units.
