By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

The Concept for modernization of the gas transportation system of Uztransgaz JSC, which is a part of Uzbekneftegaz JSC of Uzbekistan until 2023 envisages some measures for modernization of compressor stations and facilities of the linear part of main gas pipelines, Uzbekneftegaz JSC told Trend.

The company said that the gas transportation system of Uztransgaz JSC plays a key role in Uzbekistan’s economic and social development.

“The country has rich natural gas resources, which both meet the domestic demand, including the demand of the population, production enterprises and etc., and are exported abroad. The supply of natural gas to the domestic market and its export plays an important role in infrastructure development in Uzbekistan,” said Uzbekneftegaz JSC.

However, the company said that the underdevelopment of the gas transportation system in recent years jeopardizes the achievement of Uzbekistan’s strategic goals. This may undermine the reliability of natural gas transportation and supply to consumers and consequently, weaken the country’s energy security and create more risks for the economic growth.

“The Concept for modernization of the gas transportation system of Uztransgaz JSC until 2023 envisages a number of steps to modernize the compressor stations and facilities of the linear part of main gas pipelines using equipment of leading manufacturers of gas pumping units, as well as international experience and recent development trends in this area,” said Uzbekneftegaz JSC.

The company said that the following tasks were taken into account when developing the Concept:

Ensuring stable receipt of gas to the gas transportation system of Uztransgaz JSC from the gas producing enterprises of Uzbekneftegaz JSC and enterprises operating under the production-sharing agreement (PSA);

Ensuring stable and uninterrupted natural gas supply to consumers in Uzbekistan;
Ensuring stable natural gas export;

Increasing the reliability and service life extension of the technological equipment;
Reducing the production costs of enterprises by decreasing the consumption of electricity, natural gas, as well as reducing technological and non-production losses by using 21st century technologies.

For 2015-2019, Uzbekneftegaz JSC is expected to implement a total of 54 investment projects. Special attention is paid to attracting foreign investors in Uzbekistan. Among the most important, one can note the investment projects implemented in cooperation with foreign companies: Gasprom and LUKOIL (Russia), CNODC (China), Petrovietnam (Vietnam), KNOC (Korea), SASOL (South Africa), Consortium of companies on the Aral project, etc.
