Reforms in Iran's oil industry governance necessary - official

Iran Deputy Oil Minister Roknnedin Javadi has indicated the importance of reforms in oil governance, during the 6th Iran International Drilling Congress & Exhibition.

Speaking on the first day of the congress, the official indicated that oil and gas governance is the main subject in this congress, adding that reforming the oil governance creates good opportunities for development of oil industry," Trend reports citing Shana.

"Iran's rank in the world's oil reserves would rise if the new explorations in oil sand and Clathrate hydrate would be successful and will be added to the overall reserves," he said.

The congress is being held during February 23 -24 where more than 100 foreign and domestic companies and 1,200 delegates are attending the congress.

Javadi noted the necessity of investment in the oil sector.

"Hopefully, the path of development in the oil industry would continue, despite international limitations, and also more attention should be paid to promoting startups," he said.
