By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

On 19-20 March, the “PCI (projects of common interest) Energy Days” will take place in Brussels, Trend reports with reference to the European Commission’s website.

Reportedly, the day and a half policy conference and exhibition will provide project promoters with the opportunity to showcase their projects and share their experience on how to build future-proof and environmentally sound energy infrastructure by using innovative technological solutions, involving local communities and finding new approaches to financing.

The PCI Energy Days will also host the signature ceremony of the Renewables Grid Initiative’s “Marine Grid Declaration”, the European Commission announced.

Increasing shares of renewables need to be integrated into the European power system to achieve the Union climate and energy targets, reads the message.

Projects of common interest are key energy infrastructure projects aimed at completing the European energy market in order to help the EU achieve its energy policy and climate objectives: affordable, secure and sustainable energy for all citizens, as well as the long-term decarbonization of the economy in accordance with the Paris Agreement.

Projects selected as PCIs can automatically benefit from several advantages, including an accelerated permit granting and improved regulatory treatment. Likewise, PCI status is a precondition for grants under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), though it does not guarantee the award of such a grant.
