Wind power generation up in Azerbaijan

Power stations in Azerbaijan generated 4.179 billion kilowatt hours of electricity in January-February 2019, which is 1.4 percent more than previous year’s figures, Trend reports referring to the State Statistical Committee.

Around 4.03 and 3.8 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity produced during this period were accounted for commercial use and consumption by thermal power plants (TPPs) respectively, which are, respectively, 1.7 percent and 1.4 percent more than the figures in the same period of 2018.

Hydroelectric power plants (HPP) in Azerbaijan produced 181.6 million kilowatt hours of electricity for the specified period, which is 1.8 percent less than in January-February 2018.

Also, 18.7 million kilowatt hours of electricity (7.8 times growth over a year) were produced by wind power generation, while solar power generation produced 5.1 million kilowatt hours of electricity (15.9 percent increase) during the reported period.
