Kazakhstan eyes to extract over 12M tons of oil from Kashagan field

Askar Mamin, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan and Dinesh Sivasambu, Managing Director of ExxonMobil in Kazakhstan discussed issues of cooperation in the oil and gas sector, Trend reports via press office of the prime minister.

During the meeting relevant issues and perspective directions of cooperation within the oil and gas sector were covered, including realization of the projects of Tengiz and Kashagan oil fields development.

“This year the volume of oil extraction of the Kashagan field is expected to reach up to 12.9 billion tons of oil and eight billion cubic meters of gas. Following the overhaul of the oil field the oil extraction was resumed starting from 70 barrels a day. Taking into consideration the stage by stage increase of the extraction the daily volume of extraction is to reach 370,000-400,000 barrels of oil,” the report said.

“Furthermore, the overhaul of the Tengiz oil field is also planned. The issues of developing Kalamkas "A" offshore oil field and Khazar oil field are also being worked on,’ the statement said.

ExxonMobil is an important partner of Kazakhstan, the cooperation of which positively impacts the oil ang gas sector development of Kazakhstan.

Kashagan is the first Caspian sea oil field of Kazakhstan, as well as the largest investment project of the country. The marketed production of oil on the field began on November 1, 2016.
