Volume of oil products sales from Star Refinery announced

The total volume of oil products sold by Star Refinery in Turkey’s domestic market stood at 74,972 tons in January-March 2019, Trend reports citing Turkey’s Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EPDK).

During the reporting period, Star Refinery’s products accounted for 1.19 percent in Turkey’s domestic market, said EPDK.

Reportedly, as of March 2019, Star Refinery sold 18,839 tons of products in Turkey’s domestic market, accounting for 0.82 percent share in the market.

EPDK report shows that in March 2019, Star Refinery exported a total of 319,017 tons of petroleum products, including 180,399 tons of diesel fuel, 65,567 tons of fuel oil and 73,050 tons of jet fuel.

This is while the crude oil imports by Star Refinery amounted to 565,019 tons in March 2019, reads the report.

The opening ceremony of the Star oil refinery took place on October 19, 2018 in Izmir, Turkey.

The total refining capacity of the refinery will be 10 million tons, and Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR is the main supplier of crude for the refinery. The refinery will significantly reduce the dependence of Turkey on imports of petrochemical products.

The refinery worth $6.3 billion, built by SOCAR in the Aliaga District of Izmir, will produce 1.6 million tons of naphtha, 1.6 million tons of aviation fuel, 4.8 million tons of low-sulfur diesel, 700,000 tons of petroleum coke, 420,000 tons of mixed xylene and 160,000 tons of sulfur.
