The delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Finance and Economy Batyr Bazarov held talks in Paris with the leadership of a number of UN specialized agencies, Trend reports referring to Turkmen Foreign Ministry.
In particular, during the meeting with Fekitamoeloa ‘Utoikamanu, UN High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States, the parties stressed the need to develop closer cooperation in the field of transport and energy.
In this regard, the role of Turkmenistan’s initiatives in promoting the development of international transport and transit corridors at the UN platform was noted, along with the country’s initiatives in expanding cooperation in ensuring sustainable transit of energy resources to global markets.
Emphasizing the importance of international transport cooperation for landlocked countries, the Turkmen side expressed willingness to continue to actively participate in forums held by the office of the Deputy Secretary General of UN, the information said.
Turkmenistan actively participates in the formation of an extensive combined transport system in the North-South and East-West directions. The country is also one of the key players in the energy market of the Caspian region.
