By Leman Zeynalova – Trend:

Croatia’s Plinacro company has nominated Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) project to new EU list of projects of common interest (PCI list) that will be established by November 2019, Croatian Ministry of Energy and Environment told Trend.

“Process of creating a list is still ongoing and we hope that IAP will be included in new list,” said the ministry.

Further, Croatian Energy Ministry touched upon the cooperation with Azerbaijan in the sphere of energy.

“Energy sector is one of most significant fields of cooperation between our two countries. We have very good cooperation between Plinacro and SOCAR regarding Ionian Adriatic Pipeline (IAP) project and full support of SOCAR is important for further development of IAP. Also, we have technical support from SOCAR what is added value in our relations,” said the ministry.

But there are also other possibilities in cooperation especially in chemical and gas and oil industry what has been shown on first meeting of Working Group established under Azerbaijan-Croatia Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in Zagreb on March 2019, according to Croatia’s Energy Ministry.

IAP is a proposed natural gas pipeline in Southeastern Europe that will stretch from Albania through Montenegro, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to Split in Croatia. It will be connected with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). The capacity of the pipeline will amount to five billion cubic meters of gas per year.
