Wind power plants (wind farms) are under construction near the Uzbek cities of Nukus and Zarafshan, Trend reports citing the press service of the National Electric Network of Uzbekistan.

The construction of wind farms in Uzbekistan, carried out in accordance with the decree of the President of Uzbekistan dated February 1, 2019 “On measures to further expand the multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Germany” using credit from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is reaching a new level.

Initially, research was conducted aimed at determining wind directions. With the participation of German experts, territories were identified that were suitable for the technical requirements of the project.

Today, a project for the construction of a 100 MW wind farm is being implemented in the territory of Korat, located near the city of Nukus. Furthermore, a similar power plant with a capacity of 200 MW is being built near the city of Zarafshan.

"National Electric Network of Uzbekistan" company on August 29, discussed the draft technical specifications with the participation of foreign experts. During the meeting, an action plan was developed for the technical study and analysis of the state of power lines, ensuring the integration of wind power stations in the energy system of Uzbekistan.

As a result of the implementation of these projects, more precisely due to the capacities of alternative energy stations, positive changes are planned in the energy system of Karakalpakstan and Navoi regions.
