Kazakhstan to double export of electricity to Uzbekistan by year end

Kazakhstan plans to export about 1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity to Uzbekistan by the end of the year, Trend reports citing Kazakh media.

“To date, we have already exported 500 million kWh to Uzbekistan. We plan to transfer about 1 billion kWh of electricity by the end of the year,” Chairman of the Board of KEGOC JSC Bakytzhan Kazhiev said at a meeting with reporters in Almaty.

According to him, the export of electricity to Uzbekistan was organized for the first time in the history of bilateral relations.

KEGOC is the system operator of the unified electric power system of Kazakhstan.

Moreover, Trend reported that Kazakhstan also planned to export about 70,000 tons of RON-92 gasoline to Uzbekistan in accordance with the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev.

The first batch of fuel was planned to be exported in July 2019.
