Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, having positions that are advantageous from a geopolitical and geoeconomic point of view, have identified energy and transport as strategic areas of cooperation, Trend reports citing Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper.
In the field of international energy cooperation, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan advocate the creation of a balanced multivariate system of energy supplies to the world markets, the report read.
In the field of transport, cooperation is based on the identity of positions on the creation of transport and transit corridors between Asia and Europe. Cooperation in this field envisages establishing transport links involving the states of Central Asia and the Black Sea region.
"Our countries are jointly implementing the Afghanistan – Turkmenistan – Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey transport corridor project," the article stressed.
Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan signed a friendship agreement in 1996, and in August 2017, the two countries signed the Declaration on Strategic Partnership.
