Number of petrochemical plants to increase in Iran by 2022

The number of petrochemical plants will increase from 56 to 83 in Iran by March 21, 2022, executive director of the Iranian National Petrochemical Company Behzad Mohammadi said.

Sixteen petrochemical plants will be commissioned next year (March 21, 2020 - March 21, 2021) while seven plants will be commissioned a year later (March 7, 2021 – March 21, 2022), Mohammadi added, Trend reports referring to ILNA.

He added that the Kaveh methanol plant, the Ilam Olefin plant, the Bushehr Methanol plant and the Takht-Jamshed plant will be put into operation by the end of the year (March 21, 2020).

Mohammadi said that a petrochemical plant will be established in northern Gilan province.

The issue connected with the construction of this plant will be solved next week and the details will be announced next month (September 23 - October 22), he said.

Regarding the fuel supply of the petrochemical plants, Mohammadi said that six petrochemical projects are being implemented in the petrochemical industry.

After the implementation of six projects, the fuel supply will increase up to 15 million tons, he added.

Thus, the supply of the current 650,000 barrels of fuel will increase by 1.35 million barrels in 2025, Mohammadi said.
