Public consultation announced for IGB interconnection point

Public consultation has been announced for the Interconnection Point Komotini of the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB), Trend reports citing ICGB AD, the project company.

Reportedly, the consortium for construction of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) and ICGB intend to conclude an interconnection agreement for the Interconnection Point Komotini.

According to Art. 4. (2) of Commission Regulation (EU) 2015/703 of 30 April 2015 establishing a network code on interoperability and data exchange rules, both TSOs invite the network users to comment on the proposed text of:

the rules for matching process,
the rules for the allocation of gas quantities,
the communication procedures in case of exceptional events.

The public consultation shall be carried out from 30.09.2019 until 29.11.2019.

IGB is a gas pipeline, which will allow Bulgaria to receive Azerbaijani gas, in particular, the gas produced from Azerbaijan's Shah Deniz 2 gas and condensate field. IGB is expected to be connected to TAP via which gas from the Shah Deniz field will be delivered to the European markets.

The initial capacity of IGB will be 3 billion cubic meters of gas.
