The sector of renewable and alternative energy sources in Azerbaijan is developing intensively, Deputy Head of the Energy Department of Azerbaijan’s Energy Ministry Vusal Musayev said during the Caspian Technical Conference in Baku, Trend reports from the event.

“In order to develop this sector, it is necessary to begin cooperation with companies such as BP, Total, Equinor, etc.,” Musayev said.

The deputy head noted that one of the main advantages of such cooperation will be the acquisition of experience, increasing the skills and knowledge of local specialists.

“Another advantage of this bilateral agreement may be the attraction of huge investments in the non-oil sector and the introduction of innovative technologies in Azerbaijan,” Musayev noted.

The deputy head also stressed that investments will come more from the state budget than from the private sector.

“We are working hard on the development of this sector,” Musayev added.

The Caspian Technical Conference will continue until Oct. 18. The main focus of the conference is on the oil and gas industry in the Caspian region and at the global level.
