New project of Iran’s Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company launched

A project related to production increase to 480 tons at the Poly-H unit of Iran’s Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company has been launched in the Special Economic Zone in Bandar-e-Emam city of the country’s Khuzestan province, Reza Ghasemi Shahri, the company’s CEO, said at the opening ceremony held in this regard, Trend reports via IRNA.

Reza Ghasemi Shahri said that the production volume so far has been 400 tons a day, adding that Iran will be the first country in the Middle East to produce PET (polyethylene terephthalate).

“This project, commissioned by the efforts of local experts, will help the Shahid Tondgooyan Petrochemical Company to boost production,” the company’s CEO noted.

Shahri added that during the seven months (March 21-October 22) of this Iranian year (began March 21, 2019), the company’s sales fell by 7 percent compared to the same period last year.

“Over the seven months, 667,000 tons of finished products, 304,000 tons of semi-finished products were sold and more than 12 trillion rials (about $285 million) were received,” the CEO said.
