Number of cars operating on diesel up in Kazakhstan

The number of registered cars in Kazakhstan amounted to 646,654 vehicles during first nine months of 2019, which is 7.2 percent less compared to the same period of last year, Trend reports with reference to Kazakhstan’s Statistics Committee.

As of October 1, 2019, total number of passenger cars registered in Kazakhstan amounted to 3.7 million cars.

The committee noted that 84.4 percent of registered cars operate on petrol, compared to 84.3 percent during previous month. Some 12.8 percent of the cars operate on mixed fuel (13 percent during previous month) and 2.7 percent - on diesel fuel (2.6 percent during previous month).

During the reporting period, the number of registered car accidents amounted to 11,484 cases, which is 3.4 percent more than during the same period of last year, and 16,876 people were injured in these accidents.

As of October 1, 2019, insurance companies made 54,829 payments worth 21.3 billion tenge (approximately $54.6 million) on Mandatory Vehicle Owner’s Third Party Liability Insurance.
