By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:
Oil production volumes from the existing wells of the Soroush field reach 500 million barrels in Iran’s southern Bushehr province while full production from the field will increase by about 1.5 billion barrels, Javad Rustami, director of exploration projects of the Iranian Offshore Oil Company and head of the project related to an increase in production at Soroush field, said.
“This increase will be achieved by injection of CO2 or polymer according to the model developed by Iran's Sahand University of Technology,” Rustami added, Trend reports referring to the Iranian Offshore Oil Company’s website.
The head of the project added that oil production from this field is low because of heavy oil.
“However, simulations have been carried out upon this model and results have been obtained,” Rustami said.
The head of the project expressed hope that the models developed by the Iranian University of Technology and its foreign partner will be implemented in pilot form in the field during the next two years.
There are about nine billion barrels of oil in the field and presently, 100,000 barrels of oil are extracted a day.
