Kazakhstan, Belarus proceed with negotiations on oil exports

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Dec. 26

By Nargiz Sadikhova - Trend:

Kazakhstan and Belarus continue working on establishing export of Kazakh oil to Belarus, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Belarus Askar Beisenbayev said, Trend reports with reference to Belarusian media.

“I think that when all intra-departmental issues within the country are settled, oil producers themselves will sign the agreements, and then the issue of oil transit via Russian territory will be considered,” Beisenbayev said.

However, Beisenbayev did not name the certain date of agreements signing and did not disclose oil export volume and price.

“Volume of export, as well as the oil price will be available following the direct agreements signing with Kazakh oil extracting companies,” the ambassador said.

According to Kazakhstan’s then Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev, during Lukashenko’s visit to Kazakhstan, parties signed a preliminary agreement on export of Kazakhstan’s oil and petroleum products to Belarus and on overall cooperation in the area.

He added that Kazakhstan is planning on exporting from 1 to 3.5 million tons of oil and petroleum products a year to Belarus.

As noted by Kazakhstan’s Vice Minister of Energy Asset Magauov earlier this year, Kazakhstan is counting on signing the agreement on oil export to Belarus in the beginning of 2020.
