Iranian expert: Oil prices may rise

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Jan. 7

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

The price of crude oil can reach a maximum of $80, Iranian energy expert Behrouz Namdari said, Trend reports referring to ILNA.

If war breaks out between Iran and the US, it will affect the entire region’s oil sales, Namdari noted.

Commenting on the situation with Iraq’s selling oil to the global market, the Iranian expert said that those oil production facilities that are operated by Iraqis, there will be no problems with production and it will continue.

“However, as for the facilities which are not run by Iraqis, then the situation will change, and Iraq will be affected by the tensions between Iran and the US,” Namdari added.

Namdari, recalling the recent withdrawal of US workers from Iraq’s oil fields, said that if the Iran-US tensions lead to war, oil fields may be seriously damaged and oil export routes in the Persian Gulf may be closed.

“In this case, not only Iraq, but the region as a whole, will face the problem of oil exports,” the expert said.
