New solar park launched in Kazakhstan's Karaganda

Fourth in Kazakhstan’s Karaganda region solar plant of 10 MW capacity was launched near region’s Zhezkazgan city, Trend reports with reference to the region’s akimat (administrative center).

The solar plant was launched in Dec. 2019. Some 29,436 solar panels able to produce 14 kWh of electricity a year were installed at the territory of 20 ha

According to region’s Head Zhenis Kasymbek, 2019 was a breakthrough year for the region in introducing alternative energy sources.

“By developing solar energy we are solving both capacities deficit issue and environmental issues, and thus our region is becoming the leading one by development of renewable energy sources,” Kasymbek.

New solar park was constructed via private investments and is fully automated. Overall, 10 people work here.

Another three solar parks were constructed in Saran city, Gulshat and Aqadyr districts. The largest of them is the Saran plant of 100 MW capacity. Overall, over 60 billion tenge ($158,642) of private investments were allocated for the construction of solar parks in Karaganda region.
