It has been suggested that Anahita Oil Refining Company in Kermanshah in west of Iran would transform its activity and focus on petrochemical products, said Commander of Khatam Al Anya's Headquarters.
"The headquarters is ready to transform Anahita oil refinery; there have been negotiations to implement the plan under engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract," said Saeed Mohammad, Trend reports citing Fars News Agency.
"We have hastened the design of the plan; however, there is still no certainty over the contract. Several private companies have also held negotiations to purchase shares of Anahita refinary," Mohammad said.
"Processing heavy crude oil needs a complex technology, it is a more time-consuming process and require larger financial resources that production in the petrochemical sector," the commander added.
Iranian government has approved construction of Anahita refinery in 2006 in line with the Fourth Development Plan for 2004-2009.
