Azerbaijan reveals export volume of gas

Since the commissioning of Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli (ACG) and Shah Deniz fields, 282 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced until January 1, 2020, Trend reports referring to Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Energy on Jan. 23.

The share of Shah Deniz gas field is 117 billion cubic meters of gas.

In 2019, 35.6 billion cubic meters of gas were produced from Shah Deniz, which is 5.1 billion more compared to 2018 (30.5 billion cubic meters).

Since the commissioning of the Shah Deniz field, 77.6 billion cubic meters of gas were exported until January 1, 2020.

In total, gas sales abroad amounted to 11.7 billion cubic meters in 2019, which is 2.1 billion cubic meters or 22.2 percent more compared to 2018 (9.6 billion cubic meters).

Shah Deniz Stage 2 is the starting point of the Southern Gas Corridor, through which Caspian gas will first enter the European market. As part of the second stage of field development, additional 16 billion cubic meters of gas per year will be produced. Of these, 6 billion cubic meters will be delivered to Turkey, and 10 billion to Europe. During the peak period, gas production from the Shah Deniz field will reach 26 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
