BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 3

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

Iran’s National South Oilfields Company has launched the manufacture of demulsifier products for the first time in Iran, said the company’s Production Manager Saeid Kouti, Trend reports with reference to the company’s website.

Kouti noted that demulsifier solution accounts for more than 80 percent of the chemicals used in oil and gas industry.

The production manager added that the use of this solution for the separation of crude oil from water and salt in plants is of great importance.

“Since the beginning of this Iranian year (March 21, 2019), a lot of work has been done and some deficiencies have been eliminated,” Kouti said. “As a result, the use of the demulsifier solution saved 3,800 barrels of crude oil.”

This means saving more than 270 billion rials (about $6.4 million), the manager noted.

The solution had been fully imported previously and huge amounts of money were spent, Kouti said.

Iran’s National South Oilfields Company belonging to the National Iranian Oil Company has 45 big and small hydrocarbon fields in the area of 400,000 square kilometers from the Bushehr province to the north of Khuzestan province. About 80 percent of Iran’s crude oil and 16 percent of Iran’s gas are extracted in the company’s territories.

In general, there are 125 oil fields and 59 gas fields in Iran. Iran’s total hydrocarbon reserves are 836 billion barrels. With the technology equipment, it is possible to extract 239 billion barrels.
