Gas consumption down in Iran

Gas consumption has dropped by almost 40 percent ,due to the warmer weather in Iran, said National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) Spokesperson Mohammad Asghari, Trend reports citing ISNA news agency.

According to Asghari, currently, gas consumption in residential and commercial facilities is about 370 million cubic meters daily in Iran.

The official said that gas consumption decreased by 200 million cubic meters.

Asghari added that the problems with the gas supply of thermal power plants have already been solved.

"Iranian Ministry of Petroleum and National Gas Company fulfill their commitments on gas supply" he said.

Gas consumption reached record levels in at the end of January, in Iran. Thus, daily consumption of gas reached 625 million cubic meters. Iran's daily gas consumption was 520 million cubic meters in January last year. The increase in gas consumption of Iran posed a problem for the operation of Thermal Power Plant.

Iran currently produces over 800 million cubic meters of gas daily and it is expected to reach 1 billion cubic meters.
