SOCAR can lease six fuel stations in Romania

Romanian Competition Council will look into the agreed lease of six fuel stations owned by Romanian fuel stations chain Aral M.T.B by Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, Trend reports citing the Council.

"In order to determine whether the concentration is compatible with a normal competitive environment, the competition authority will consider the notified transaction under the merger regulation," the Competition Council said in a statement.

The six fuel distribution stations which are located in Arad, Timișsand Sibiu counties are to be operated by SOCAR based on a ten-year lease.

SOCAR operates in Romania through its subsidiary SOCAR Petroleum SA Romania.

SOCAR Petroleum SA Romania was founded January 30, 2011 to manage the purchase and sale of petroleum products in Romania and provide supply services that meet international standards and a diversified transportation infrastructure.

SOCAR launched its 44th fuel service station in Romania, in the city of Craiova in January 2020.
