Russia’s Siemens Transformers to supply power transformers to Azerbaijan

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 9

Russia’s Siemens Transformers LLC and Azerbaijan’s Absheron Regional Electric Network LLC have concluded an agreement on the supply of power transformers for the Azerbaijani power grid, Trend reports referring to the company.

“Russia’s Voronezh plant will manufacture and supply four power transformers with a capacity of 250 megavolt-amperes each to Baku by the end of the year,” the message said.

"New transformer equipment will be installed at the 330/220/110 kilovolt-Gobu substation which is under construction, which will ensure the loop power supply for Baku through the main 330 and 220 kilovolt-transmission lines,” the message said.

“A power plant with gas engine units with a capacity of up to 385 megawatts will be built nearby,” the message said. “It will be connected to the new substation along 110 and 220 kilovolt lines.”

“The Gobu substation is expected to be commissioned in the second half of 2021,” the message said.

"We appreciate Azerbaijan’s trust and are glad to contribute to improving the reliability and stability of the energy supply system in this country,” Igor Ivanov, director general of Siemens Transformers LLC, said. “This is not our first project in this country. We hope that our fruitful cooperation will continue."
