The total volume of aviation fuel imports to Georgia amounted to 6,000 tons in March 2020, which is 1,000 tons, or 14.3 percent, less than in February this year, Trend reports referring to the Union of Oil Product Importers of Georgia.

Meanwhile, this indicator is 2,100 tons or 25.9 percent less compared to March 2019.

According to the union, in March 2020, Georgia imported 4,900 tons (81.7 percent) of aviation fuel from Turkmenistan, and 1,100 tons (18.3 percent) from Turkey.

From January through March 2020, the import of aviation fuel to Georgian amounted to 18,500 tons, which is 3,200 tons or 17.7 percent less than the same period last year (21,700 tons).

Of this volume, 13,700 tons (74.1 percent) of imports are accounted for Turkmenistan, 2,600 tons (14.1 percent) for Turkey and 2,200 tons (1.8 percent) for Romania.

“The reduction in aviation fuel imports is directly related to the restrictions imposed due to the spread of COVID-19,” the union said.
