Turkmenistan will start using special equipment for energy audits, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenportal informational portal.

This equipment was developed as part of a joint project of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan and the Sustainable Cities Program (SCP), which is a joint UN-HABITAT/United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) capacity-building and institutional strengthening facility.

As reported, the new energy audit equipment should be used in Ashgabat, the capital, and the resort of Avaza.

Scientists of the State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan will be involved in the project implementation as consultants.

The energy audit will evaluate all aspects of enterprises' activities that are related to the costs of fuel, various types of energy, water and some energy carriers. The purpose of this energy audit is the efficient use of energy resources, and the development of measures of their appropriate utilization, said the report.

Earlier, within the framework of the joint project on Sustainable Cities in Turkmenistan: Integrated Green Urban Development in Ashgabat and Avaza, specialized equipment was purchased and installed to assess and control the state of atmospheric air for the Environmental Monitoring Service and regional laboratories of the Nature Protection Departments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection.

The new equipment for the project included modern equipment for determining the concentration of pollutants contained in industrial emissions and other sources of atmospheric pollution.
