Iran backs up two oil fields by re-launching emergency generator

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 7

By Elnur Baghishov - Trend:

An emergency generator has been repaired at the Nar and Kangan gas fields of Iran's South Zagros Oil and Gas Production Company (SZOGPC), said Mahmoud Mirbagheri, SZOGPC’s operations director, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The generator serves two fields, which are located close to one another in Iran's Bushehr province.

The Volvo Penta-250 KVA generator was repaired in 40 days, Mirbagheri said adding that more than 10 billion rials (about $238,000) would have been required to purchase a new generator.

The official noted that this generator has not been used for years, due to the failure of some basic spare parts.

SZOGPC is a subsidiary of the Iranian Central Oil Fields Company (ICOFC), and it operates in Fars, Bushehr and Hormozgan provinces.

In the future, the company plans to expand its operations to Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, as well as Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari provinces. At present, the company operates nine gas and two oil fields.

The Nar gas field is located near the city of Jam in the southern Iranian province of Bushehr. The field produces 29 million cubic meters of gas and 4,000 barrels of gas condensate per day.

The Kangan gas field is located near the city of Kangan in Iran's Bushehr province. The field produced 52 million cubic meters of gas and 16,000 barrels of gas condensate daily.
