The review of data in the Azerbaijani energy sector has been disclosed, Trend reports on May 11 referring to the report of the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee.
Electric power
Power plants in Azerbaijan generated 6.7 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity from January through March 2020, which is 5.9 percent more compared to the same period of 2019, the report reads.
The report says that 6.5 billion kilowatt hours of the total electricity generated from January through March 2020 accounted for commercial consumption, which is 0.06 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.
Thermal power plants (TPPs) accounted for 6.2 billion kilowatt-hours of the total commercial electricity generated from January through March 2020, which is 6 percent more compared to the same period of 2019.
Azerbaijan’s hydroelectric power plants (HPPs) generated 0.216 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity during the reporting period (decline of 26.8 percent).
Some 24.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated in Azerbaijan during the reporting period via wind power, which indicates a decline by 1.3 times, and 8.7 million kilowatt-hours of electricity were generated from solar power which shows a decline by 0.06 percent.
Azerbaijan’s Azerenergy JSC carries out repair and restoration work at the Mingachevir Hydroelectric Power Station. As a result of work at the mentioned station, which consists of six hydraulic units, reliability and safety will greatly increase.
A power substation in the Azerbaijani Khirdalan city, which provides most of Baku city with light, is being reconstructed.
A 220-kilovolt substation of systemic importance provides light to 60 percent of the territory of Baku and the Absheron Peninsula, and also feeds most of the 110-kilovolt substations in Baku.
Reconstruction of 220 and 110 kilovolt open switchgears, including metalwork, has already been completed.
A new administrative building was built on the territory of the power substation. A modern Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition System (SCADA) with remote control will be installed. The SCADA will be integrated into a common system with reverse data transmission. Most of the work has already been completed, and full completion is expected soon.
While ensuring the operation of the country's electric power system, 110, 220, 330, 500 kilovolt-high-voltage power lines and the means of their supervisory control, Azerenergy OJSC coordinates the production and transmission of electricity.
Azerbaijan is conducting the reconstruction of high voltage power lines and increasing generating capacities by using the new technologies. At the same time, energy exchange operations are being conducted with foreign countries.
The main producer of electricity in Azerbaijan is Azerenergy OJSC, which has substations with the capacity of 500, 330, 220 and 110 kilovolt-amperes on the balance sheet.
The restoration of more than 1,000 megawatts of "lost" power and ensuring of reliable operation are envisaged within the "Rehabilitation Program" covering 2018-2021.
Azerenergy is carrying out reconstruction and a complex of repair work at 12 power plants and about 20 substations.
The 220-kilovolt Mushfig substation in Badamdar settlement of Sabail district and the 110-kilovolt Zabrat substation in Zabrat settlement of Sabunchu district were reconstructed and commissioned.
The 110-kilovolt "Eighth Kilometer" substation, which has been in operation since 1968 and the 110-kilovolt Sulfanol substation in Sumgayit city, which has been in operation since 1976, were reconstructed.
