Azerbaijan's share in Turkish gas import marginally changes

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15

Azerbaijan's share in Turkish gas imports in February 2020 among all importing countries amounted to 16 percent, Trend reports citing Natural Gas Distribution Association of Turkey (GAZBIR) on May 15.

According to the association, this indicator increased by 0.36 percent compared to the same period of last year.

Russia's share in Turkish gas imports in the reporting month was 21 percent, the US - 18 percent, Iran - 15 percent, and Algeria - 10 percent.

The total volume of Turkish natural gas imports in February of this year exceeded 5.2 billion cubic meters, which is 19.2 percent more compared to the same period in 2019 (over 4.2 billion cubic meters).

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan through the South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum). In accordance with the contract, Turkey annually buys from Azerbaijan 6.6 billion cubic meters of gas produced at the Shah Deniz field.
